Reports of death sentences being passed on Christian and other religious leaders continue to be received along with accounts of the destruction of hundreds of 'underground' churches. Young women have been beaten and sexually assaulted in attempts to force them to give evidence against church leaders. Detained believers continue to be subject to appalling torture, forced labour in gruelling conditions, and even arbitrary killing. JSM has publicised events and released information from Secret Documents leaked by Chinese officials, at their considerable personal risk, on the programme for the persecution of Christian and other believers in China. JSM has also participated in an appeal to M Hun Jintao, President of the Popular Republic of China.
